On June 27th, Twitch introduced a new feature called cheering. Cheering allows users to celebrate with their favorite streamers by using a digital currency called bits. This is another way for viewers to directly support the streamers they love. Watching eSports on Twitch is like being in a stadium filled with screaming fans supporting your team. It’s an immersive experience that brings people together.
Twitch is all about sharing moments, whether in celebration or support. Cheering allows viewers to show hype, love, and community using special chat functionality. You can show support for your favorite broadcasters with animated emotes that pop off in the chat.
Currently, cheering is in beta with only a small number of streamers having access. To get bits, you can purchase them with your own money through Amazon Payments. This model is similar to sites like MyFreeCams, where users buy tokens to support models. Twitch takes a cut for facilitating the transactions, but it’s a straightforward and secure process.
While cheering with bits is a way to support streamers, it’s not meant to replace traditional donations. Twitch will continue to allow third-party means of sending money to streamers. Cheering and bits offer a different way to engage with your favorite broadcasters and show your support.
