STREAMATE BASICS: SMBroadcast
To start, go to the support tab and click on the streaming guide option. You will be redirected to a page with three current encoders that Streamate supports. Click on the option for FM broadcast and you will be taken to the SM Broadcast page.
From there, you have the option to download either the Mac or Windows version. I downloaded the Mac version since I am using a MacBook. Once you’ve downloaded the appropriate version, locate it under the applications on your computer and open the program.
You may receive an error message stating that SM Broadcast cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. To bypass this on a Mac, click on the Apple icon at the top left-hand corner, then select System Preferences. In the Security and Privacy options, select the padlock and unlock it. You will be prompted to enter your computer’s password. Once you’ve done this, click on ‘open anyway’ and proceed to click the ‘Open’ button on the message that pops up.
You will then be prompted to log into your Streamate account from the SM Broadcast program. Use the same login information that you use to log in on streamatemodels.com. Next, select ‘add widget’ and then ‘AV settings’. Click the green calibrate button to determine the best settings for your setup. This may take a few moments, so be patient.
Once calibration is completed, you are ready to go live in HD using the SM Broadcast encoders. Go back to your main dashboard and click the ‘start show’ button. Before starting your show, make sure to set an attention-grabbing room topic and select SM Broadcast from the quality drop-down menu.
Click the green ‘start my show’ button in the chat interface and then go to FM broadcast and click the green ‘start show’ button at the bottom. You are now live on streaming using SM Broadcast.
If it’s your first time logging in, give the system a few minutes to capture your settings and place you accordingly. In the meantime, rearrange your windows to see both the chat and video in FM broadcast as needed.
Customize the windows to your liking for efficient chat room management. If you want to see what your profile looks like when you’re live, go to streamate.com and type in your performer name in the search box. Note that if you have geographic restrictions enabled, customers who are not logged in may need to sign up for a free membership or log in to see your profile.
In this tutorial, we’ll walk you through setting up the (Streamate) SMBroadcast encoder from start to finish. (Note: The example was performed on a Mac. If you are using a PC, the setup may differ slightly from what you see in this video.) We will show you how to download the SMBroadcast software and set up your live cam Show this to start SMB in the Streamate network. By successfully using an encoder in live streaming, you will gain preferred placement on Streamate and improve your customers’ experience. Do you have any questions about how to get started?
